The Special Subsidy. [Newspaper Article] — The Dubbo Liberal and Macquarie Advocate — 10 March 1894

The Special Subsidy. A deputation representing the municipalities of the colony waited on the Premier to-day, and asked for a special subsidy of 10s in the £ on last year's rates. The Premier stated that he did not think the reduction in the income of the councils formed legitimate grounds for making a claim on the Govern ment. He would refer the matter to the Cabinet on Monday, but he was afraid his colleagues would not fall in with the wishes of the deputation.

The Millionaire of the Riverine. [Newspaper Article] — The Dubbo Liberal and Macquarie Advocate — 10 March 1894

The Millionaire of the Riverine ' IThB Tvill of the Great JUverine . squatter, Loc'ky M'JJean, crank ami millionaire, contains one characteristic proviso. The whole of hia million or t>vo in iand and money and bauds is, with a few insignificant exceptions) left to nephews and nieces. Bat one nephew is cat completely out, of the will, because they could tml, agree together* daring life. According to the conventional idea* iu such matters old 41 Locky " was perfectly' justified iu giving; (hut nephew the go-by, but the old man's maliciousness carried bejouii the grave shawH itself in the proviso that sliouJd any of the nephews or nieces give any portion of theirs to the disiiilieriled nephew they are to forfeit their scares too. What mad folly is this that allows a dead man to exercise his maliciousness after bis death. Perhaps yon would liko to know, though it is a little bit since he died, who Locky M'Bean was, and lion' he, an iguorunt, coarse and illiterate mau, acquired such a...

A MUNICIPAL CASE. [Newspaper Article] — The Dubbo Liberal and Macquarie Advocate — 10 March 1894

A MUNICIPAL CASE. AT the Parramtta Police Court on Wednes- day, Richard Stewart Richardson, part proprietor of the Cumberland ARGUS, was   proceeded against on an information laid by George E. H. Black, the defeated candidate for Anderson Ward in the recent municipal selection, that he did on February 10 last, at an election held at Parramatta for an alderman for Anderson Ward, make and subscribe a declaration in the form of schedule C of the Municipalities Act of 1867, and did wilfully and falsely declare that he was a ratepayer in the said ward, and that no part any rate due by him was in arrears, Mr. Charles Bull appeared for the prosecu- tion, and Mr. H. A. Richardson for the defence.
