COUNCIL HOPES TO BEGIN LAYING BIGGER WATER MAINS IN MARCH IMMEDIATE £7009 TREASURY LOAN THE State Guvcr-rcnt has made pvailable £7009 for the Roma Town Council to begin work shortly on the £70,000 town water rcbemc. The chairman of the council water board (Aid. A. Crawford) told the Town Council on Friday night that it was expected work would lutein sometime in March. The money wil be'used ta put down usw maiss in McDcwall Street, Wyudham Street (from BIc Dowall Street to Statin Street), and Quintcn street (from Mc Dowall Street to the railway line). Six-inch lmuns will be liiiO on both cides of McDowall Street, which lias now only one main, aiiil four-inch mains wil! be laid on each side of Wyndliam Street, which has now one four-inch main down the ccutre. One four-inch main will be laid down the side of Quinton Street, which has now one three-inch main down the centre.
