'he exhibit sent to Pakenham show by local residents was much admired, as showing what this district is capable of. the idea has been that the land was only abltable for fruit growing, but the exhi bits of garden produce, maize, &c., quite disproves this, and shows, with suitable cultivation, how fertile the soil really is. It is probable that a show will be held here next \car, and inl the Mechanics' Hall. Building is going on rapidly. New houses are being erected by Mr. Black on hiis sub-divisions, and additions are being made to houses already built.
