IV" J OFFICIAL PAPER OF BELTRAMI COUNTY. VOL. VI, NO. 36. WECaps, still Grand Falls on the Big Fork River, Much has been heard of the waterfalls on the Big Pork river at the point platted for the Town of Grand Palls, but it has remained for the PIONEER to publish the first photograph of same. There are two important falls on tne Big Pork river, one over trap rock in township 62, range 25 the other which has long been known as Sturgeon falls, over granite in the southeast corner of township 125, range 25, in the newly organized Township of Campbell. The latter falls, which is shown above is the larger, and has a drop of 40 feet in less than 130 yards. At this point the river is perhaps 250 feet wide, and in high water the rocks shown in the foreground are inundated. The above was a snap shot taken by Mr. Riggs, leader of the Crookston band. This is the best photograph we have seen of the falls, but even it does not do justice. The cut does not show the lower end of the island which di...
