6 THE MONTANA POST, SATURDAY, MAY 4, 1867 TheMontana Post lilte Thecorrespondent of the New York^Times, speaking of the recent improTe-^ments at the White House, says : Withthe exception of the Red Room,^which is the private parlor of the ladies^at the house, the general characteristics^of the parlors have been unchanged. In^it the deep red paper on the walls has^been replaced with colors not quite so^sombre and gloomy ; with wainscoatings^of crimson velvet and bright gildings on^the walls, sufficient to entitle it to its^old patronymic, and forming a tout en-^temble perfectly charming and exceed^^ingly imposing. The old furniture hav^^ing been repaired, and made more modern^in its appearance, with pliant French^springs and elegant brocatel coverings,^remains as of y^ and retains its crim^^son color.
