National Corn Exposition Exhibitions Continued from page 1 present time. One general rule is im portant, that all varieties of grasses for exhibition must show seed heads. The part of the preparation requir ing the greatest care, however, is in the curing of the samples, and many samples have failed in prize getting, owing to the faulty method of curing. No absolutely fixed rule can be made, for each sample requires practically individual treatment, but the follow ing general suggestions, if followed, will be of great assistance to those preparing samples for exhibition pur poses: Of the tame grasses, alfalfa is by far the most difficult to handle sucess fully, and few have been able to make a creditable showing with it. As soon as the alfalfa begins to bloom, select straight, medium sized stems, having the heaviest foliage without rust or fungus growth, being careful not to bruise the leaves or stems, keeping cutting out of the sun, and tie 8 or 10 stems together about one inch fro...

SUBSCRIPTION PRICE, $2.00 PER YEAR Entered as second-class matter March 3, 1905, at the postoffice at Glendive, Mont.. under the Act of Congress of March 3,1879. THURSDAY. OCT. 28. 1909. The newspaper situation at For syth drifted into a calmer atmos phere last week when the two pa pers, the Times and the Journal, were consolidated under the name of the Forsyth Times-Journal. Ira Cole, editor of the Times, still con tinues as editor of the Times-Jour nal, while Jos. A. Kuhn, former foreman on the Journal, is the busi ness manager of the new consolida tion. Both the Times and the Jour nal were fine sheets and we believe that the Times-Journal will be noth ing short of a pippin. Mr. Cole has established a reputation as getting out about the best all-around weEk ly in Montana, and there seems eve ry reason to believe that he will not let the good work cease. Peary's Records Sent To Society Washington, Oct. 20.-Commander Robert E. Peary's p:roof, records and observations that he reached the north pole April 6, 1908, were today sub mitted to the National Geographic society.
