Charges against the County Treasurer.' Last month there were various reports in circulation derogatory to the integrity and capability of Col. Levi W. Taylor, our County Treasurer. In consequence of these reports, a committee of the Grant Jury of the County visited the Treasurer's office, and examined the Books of the Treasurer's accounts. The committee, without going into a searching examination of the books, reported to the Grand Jury, who made a presentment, stating that the Treasurer's books were kept in a loose and irregular manner, and that they conttianed gross and wilful errors.— Upon these charges being presented, the District Court cited Col. Taylor to appear yesterday week and answer. The Court having heard the witnesses for the prosecution, dismissed the case, without submitting it to the Jury. There were two of the committee only :s who made any examination of the books at the time of their visit to the Treasurer's office, and they remarked that they could not understan...
