The Wylie Chamber of Commerce will hold its first Wylie Championship Rodeo from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. Although it's the first "championship rodeo," the chamber has been pony- ing up the cowboy culture for 14 years. "The name has changed because the event itself has changed from a ranch rodeo to a regular professional rodeo," said Mike Agnew, chamber president. "While the rodeo in the evening will be the featured attrac- tion, the day of the rodeo will be filled with events, activities, kids games, shopping, food and fun that will make an all-day ticket worth purchasing." Page 8 - Scction A - THE SACHSE NEWS - Wednesday, September 8, 2005 At the library Sachse Public Library goes Hollywood! By Dolores Greenwald Sachse Library Director Hello Everyone! I am happy to be writing my first bimonthly column for the Sachse News telling you about the exciting events at the library. Of course we love books at the library. But I have a secret, we also like movies! Every weekend we will be showing recently released family films. Did you like "The Incredibles" or "The Pacifier?" If the answer is "yes,".come by the library on Saturdays at 2 p.m. to see the terrific movie we will be showing. At the library, we have a special place in our hearts for children and offer two wonderful programs. We have 'Story Time' throughout the year on Thursdays. This is a fun time to bring your child to the library to read, play with toys, or perhaps put together a puzzle. For infants we have the 'Baby Time' program. In this successful program we read, sing, and do movement exercise...

By the time you read this, we will have played in McKinney, but right now I'm speak- ing of the huge blanket of maroon in the stadium in Tyler, compared to the "OK-not-great" showing of support for The Colony. I can't verify the following state- ment because my program blew away, but I believe that there are actually fewer students in WHS than in the opponent's high school, and yet we filled up our side. "We earned most of (the points), all but about seven of them. We had a lot of kills in that game too. We had 13 kills and two aces. That's already 15 points and two blocks, so that's 17 points right there." The Sachse defense also shined, allowing less than 10 Wylie kills in each of the four games. McKinney, pegged at No. 11 in the area by the Dallas Morning News, was coming off a tough sea- son-opening loss to Fort Worth Western Hills. Wylie is 2-0 overall and will host Sherman Friday at 7:30 p.m. "We looked real solid tonight winning on the road against a ranked opponent." Wylie head coach Mark Ball said. "The Lions were coming off of an emotional loss last week and with two extra days of rest, they had every advan- tage in the game."
