VICTORIA. Melbourne, Nov. 2. The funeral of Sir James Patterson yesterday was an exceptionally large   one, the Governor's carriage joining in the precession. Eva Barry, a single woman is suing the executors of the late Southwell Coultas for £500 damages. She alleges the deceased promised to marry her before he died. Elizabeth Graham, aged 26, com-       mitted suicide by hanging herself in a fowl-house at St. Kilda yesterday. The deceased was a single girl, and no   motive can at present be assigned for the rash act. Michael Davitt and Mark Twain are passengers by the steamer Mararoa leaving for New Zealand to-day. In the Assembly yesterday Mr Han- cock again brought up the case of the condemned woman Emma Williams. The Premier declined to discuss the case in the House.
