'HLS LIFE AtMOST A BURDEN.' The Fort, Dawers Point, Sydney. August 12th, 1889. To the Proprietor of Clements Tonic. Sir, I have been a great sufferer from languor, loss of appetite, and depressed spirits, which mttde my life almost a burden. I had no inclination to eat or drink even the most palntable delicacies which made a modern table agreeable ; and to such an extent did thu indisposi tion affect my .general health, that it was impossible, for me to properly attend to my business. I was recommended to try Clements' Tonic, which I did with little hope of relief, but, after taking a few doses, I felt a decided change, and by tho time I had finished a bottle I could sleep thu night tlir-ittgh, and awake next morning re freshed and with an appetite for breakfast. I miw eac and drink anything that comes in my way, and, by the use of an occasional dose of your valunble tonic, I am enabled to enjoy life thoroughly. An Old Scene Revisited. [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News and South Coast Districts Advertiser — 3 October 1891

An Old Scene Revisited In the busy humdrum of city life it is a pleasant thing indeed to get a few days rest. To leave awhile the eternal round of business pursuits, the ever noisy streets and bustling throng, and hie away by early morning train to the quitude and seclusion of some sweet country spot. Taking advantage of the lovely spring weather that pre vailed last week, we left Sydney on Thursday by the 9.30 a.m. train for Kiama en route for the township of Berry, where it was our privilege long apo to spend a few of the happiest years of life. In those days a trip to and from the metropolis was not nearly as pleasant a thing as it is at the present time, especially to one whose stomach is not formed to bear 'the troubles of the restless sea ; now 'tis a lovely trip by rail and road. The beautiful scenery on this line may be said to commence at Como, truly an enchanting spot, and aptly named. Thence on to the waterfall we traverse the extent of the pretty National Park, after whi...

She says : — ' One day in September, 1887, 1 stood at the top of a flight of eleven steps, about t'j go down. Suddenly I was taken with a giddy Bcnsation. Everything seemed to swim around me, and I fell. I rolled to the bottom of the steps and was picked up insensible, with a broken arm. The doctor vecommctwled rest and quietness. In a few days I wan better, but still felt the shock to my nervouB system. ' Then many bad symptoms appeared. I had mi uncomfortable feeliuj; all over me which 1 cannot describe. The necessity for the removal of the river rocks at Bomaderry so as to form a safe channel for shipping was again clearly demonstrated on Thursday last. The steamer Coomonderry, for Sydney, got away as usual at 9 o'clock from her wharf at the Bridge, but ran aground in attempt ing the narrow passage between the rocks and the river bank just by the mouth of Bomaderry Creek. She remained there hard and fast until the flood tide floated her off at 7 p.m., -when Bhe proceeded on her way to Sydney. Several years ago the t work of removing the obstructing rocks . by blasting was commenced under the ? - superintendence of Mr. M. H. Momarty , (late Assistant-Engineer for Harbours and Rivers), the Minister for Works agreeing : on tho representations of the then member for the district (Mr. W. Fbaser Martin) that it was of the utmost necessity to remove not only tbe Kick which form the passage referred to bnt the suuken ones which make a most dangerous and incon venient bar running out into t...
