CO-OPERATION. CHOICE OF MANAGER. [Newspaper Article] — Adelong Argus, Tumut and Gundagai Advertiser — 9 February 1925

CO-OPERATION, CHOICE OF MANAGER. - Perhaps the most important matter when forming a co-operative society is the choice of a competent manager, because 011 him depends to a large de gree 011 the ultimate success or failure of the society. Powell, a recognised authority, treats it as a matter of supreme importance. He says: — .'No co-operative organisation can succeed if the directors are unwilling to place its business management in the hands of a strong, aggressive, thorough ex perienced, well-paid man, and to carry out its policies through liim, alone. . . .Of all /the different factors that have been contributory 110 single fac tor, unless it is disloyally of members, themselves or the meddling of mem bers in the duties of management, has operated so strongly against the suc cess of fanners' business associations, atj the low-paid, inexperienced, incom .pctent managers, selected by the direc tors to handle these organisations. A MOVIE KISS IS IT A REAL DRUDGERY? [Newspaper Article] — Adelong Argus, Tumut and Gundagai Advertiser — 9 February 1925

A MOVIE KISS IS IT A REAL DRUDGERY? (By Irene Rich.) I really have never given tlie sub ject of the drudgery in a kiss serious consideration. ? As a matter of fact I never think about any drudgery. My thought?, actions, everything I possess u thrown into the part. I am to por tray. 'Lucretia Lombard,' the screen adaptation of Kathleen Norris' 'best seller,' I kiss several good-looltiug men, and it. has never entered my . mind that the action was drudgery. Movie kisses are a drudgery only when an actor or actress cannot feel tho part they are to play. If they feel it, live it night and day, then there can be 110 drudgery, because the actor or actress is constantly in the throes of a character other than her self. Under such conditions there can not be any .drudgery. There is plea sure, lots of it, and this, in turn, is communicated to your audiences.

DO SHEEP EAT ST. JOHN'S WORT? [Newspaper Article] — Adelong Argus, Tumut and Gundagai Advertiser — 9 February 1925

DO SHEEP EAT ST. JOHN'S WORT? This vexed question lias again aris en when, at a meeting of the Ma ft'- ? ra Shire Council, the thistle inspector reported that sheep eat and ' destroy the weed. The shire secretary told the council that the thistle inspector 111 support of his statement, had de clared that one man in the Dargo dis trict had purchased a paddock with St. John's Wort in it, and when he obtained salt to destrov tlio wend lie discovered that the sheep had eaten | the wort out, and there was none to ! destroy. Or. Long, who formerly liv ed in the Dargo district, designated the report all bunkum, and declared that slieep would not touch the wort if they could get anything else. Cr.. Macdonald classed the (inspector's statement as all rot. Sheep would on ly spread the wort, he contended.
