The Teeth. [Newspaper Article] — The Kyabram Union and Rodney Shire Advocate — 8 June 1894

The Teeth. The teeth are a very peculiar part. p one organisation. They do not belodng to the bony, skeleton, but, like the scales of the erocodile, are appendages.of the skin. Their enamel is the hardest animal product in nature, and is almost pure phosphate of lime, thanus resembling a mineral. Unlike every other portion of the body, the teeth eomaejo two distinet sets, separated by an interval of between loor and five years. The first set consists of twenty teeth, the second of thirty-two. The second, or "permanent" set are larger and harder, as well as more nomerous, than the first. Starving the Teeth. [Newspaper Article] — The Kyabram Union and Rodney Shire Advocate — 8 June 1894

Starving the Teeth. Teeth are ijust s easily starved to death as the stomach. In one way it Is a blessing to have been born of poor parents. What food the poor give to their children is of the variety that goes to make strong bones and tooth. It is the outside of all the grains, of all cereal foods, that contains the carbonate and phosphate of lime and traces of other earthy malts which nourish the bony tissues and build the frame up. it nwe do not furnish to the teeth of the young that pabulum they require, they can. not poaeibly be built up. ft is the outside of the oearn, oats, wheat, barley and the like, or the bran, so called, that we silt away and feed to the swine, that the teeth eotally re. quire for their proper nourishment. The wielom of man has proven his folly, shown in every succeeding generation of teeth which become more fragile and weak. These flouring mills are working destruction upon the teeth of every man, woman and child who partake of their fine bolted flour. T...

SHORT STORY. The Squatter's Wooing. [Newspaper Article] — The Kyabram Union and Rodney Shire Advocate — 8 June 1894

RT STORYi : ----~J The Squatter's Woorng. (BY THE FIRST MLATE.) W hat is more pitiable thian the desola tion which falls upon a young and in nocent gir wheo death seizes upon her sole friend aid protector ? Ifhe se.e of utter frienslliness which ovcrburdens such an unfortunate person can only be realised by those who have experienced it. Such was the position of Annie Vaughan when her father died. For years they had lived together, having no friends and but few acquaint ances. The old mitan had met with some disaster in early life which had soured him, and which made him indifferent to association with his fellows. This was selfish; because all such voluntary withdrawals from society argues a morose and uncharitable nature. But some people hug their wrongs, and Mr. Vaughan was one of them. Itwas only when he found himself faco to face -ithdeath, that lie understood dhowe aoust lhe had bteen. f er.il 7ead alis daughter the conmpanion of lila olitary life, and had never considered how...
