" We were yesterday favoured with the pursual of some private letters from Tahiti, from which we gether the following particu hjrs :-So soon that. Queen Pomare ascer tained that, during her absence at Haiatea, 'some bf the Chiefs had been induced to re quest the French ta take possession of Tahiti, she wrote to the French, government, repu dating their' act, and to the Queen of Eng and, soliciting her :intcrference. Queen Victoria's answer to Pomare's letter was Senlt by H. M. S. Talbot, Captain Sir T.
