MINING AT GOWABBEB. So far there have been three good finds in the field. Practical miners admit that Mr Miller's claim, near Mr W. Clarks' house is Hie 'beat. A reef aboat 2ft wide, consisting of soft and easily worked rubbly quartz, which dollie i about 2 and 3oz t3 the Con, was passed throngh at about 35ft irom the surface. The shaft is down about 50ft, aud the country which now is being exploited is s.id to be very promising. An English Journal says that one of the great advantages the Australian cricket teams have enjoyed is the fact that they never had a ' traveller' in their teams ; the bowlers could bat and the batsmen could bowl. Tlia wheat harvest in New Zealand has yielded 3,613,000 buMiels, against 4,891,000 in 1894, and 10,257,000 in 1892. There is no wheat available for export this year, but tbe colony may havo to import 500,000 bushels to supply the estimated demand.
