Gentlemen :—The most frequent question asked in this Bourse of politicians is " When will the army bill pass V The city is filled with young n.'en, anxious to be commissioned as captains «nd lieutenants in each arm of the service. The greatest number of applications are for the dragoons.— The impression now abroad is, that no one will be' commissioned to recruit, but fkat all who desire to receive appointments must first procure companies', and then, if they be proper persons, of good standing and fair repute, they-will be duly mustered into service, and receive the commissions they so much covet The army bill was delayed in the House by the imprudent discussion of the slavery question.
