Shocking Steamboat Disaster.— The. steamboat DeSoto, while passing down Old River, between three and four o'clock in the morning, came in contact with the steamboat Buckeye, bound, up. The collision caused the Buckeye to sink in less than five minutes, up to the hurricane deck. There were 250 persons on board tbe Buckeye;, of whom the greater, part were saved. Of the number lost, but fifteen are supposed to be white; the rest . were negroes and slaves. The confusion was so great that it was impossible to obtain correct particulars of tbe number lost, or their names..
