THE TEXAS M!NER. ernes as low as anywhere in any city, all patent medicines being sold at manufacturers prices, and verv many articles are pre- pared by the very competent druggist in charge of that depart- ment. In the hardware store every article in that line can be found, a saddlery and harness shop that cannot be excelled and a per- fectly appointed tin shop. It is almost tedious to attempt to enumerate all that is being done, and all done well, for it seems as though the right man was in the right place at every point. Every one of our citizens knows that the Texas Pacific meat market has not its equal in quality of meats anywhere, North or South. The company has its own abattoir, its own cold storage rooms, its own large pastures, and feeding places to fatten beeyes, sheep and hogs, so as to always have them in the best condition for food purposes. In short, it seems as though everything was perfect; but the president and manager of this great business machine savs: "I regard ...

6 THE TEXAS MINER. EDUCATIONAL AND REHGtOUS. PERSONAL MENTION. BY*J. A. WEST. A merry Christmas to all. The mental arithmetic and fourth reader classes were promot- ed this week. Mr. J. R. Douglas, one of the directors of the school, paid us a visit last Monday. Mrs. H. C. Moseley and children were welcome visitors at the school Friday a week ago. The school roll was increased this week by the names of Mag- gie Winterbotham, Fred and Margaret Smedley, D. J. Baker and Alice Young. Preparations are making for a Christmas tree at the Union church Christmas Eve night. Let everybody who likes to see the children have a good time take part in this matter. Last year's teachers have at last received all their pay. and payment of this year's fund was begun this month. The ex- county treasurer thinks this year's money will not all be in be- fore February a year hence. How is this for "efficiency ?" It is a matter of deep regred that Christmas tide, the anniver- sarv of the Saviour's advent in...

THE TEXAS MINER. giving its 2100 readers as interesting a pnper next Saturday as is possible. With the issue of January 12, 1895 [ HE M tNER completes its first volume—No. 52. If anv paper in the coun- try can show its equal in progress we've been denied the pleas- ure of seeing it. How about those peanuts, "Ding-blatz?" Have you seen Myers' cute little waste-basket? Major Wheadon's eating-house at Thurber Junction is the boast of the traveling public. Unless we have a long list of newly married people to men- tion in our next issue, then all indications pointing that way are a miserable hoax. Three beeves ready for the block in thirty-two minutes from the crack of the Winchester is not a bad record. The abattoir team of two did it. Rev. Mr. Dickey of Anson, a Presbyterian minister, preached at Lnion church Sunday last, and will be here again on the sec- ond Sunday in January. "Ex' - Squire Williams has some powerful One, fat beeves for the Christmas market, and the abattoir crew wi...
