Although the weather looked threatening last Tuesday, and thun der and continuous/ lightning flashes gave promise of a heavy downfall, only a few points of rain fell, but in some parts I am informed some heavy falls took place. * * » A social evening in aid of the Bur gooney Popular Lady Competition, was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. A. Teale, who kindly placed their residence at the disposal of &nbsp; the guests who are favoring the com-| petitor. Their geniality and kindness helped to make the occasion enjoy able. Dancing was kept up till the early hours of Thursday morning, the music being supplied by Mr. Irvine, with assistance. Mr. A. Parnaby and Mr. B. H. Evans acted as M's.C.
