STOCK AND STATION IlEEORTS Advurttrku Office, Friday Evening. The past week lias given us considerable variety in its weather aspects. In the early part of the week wo bad some clays which for warmth and-brightness we might compare with some well advanced Spring time. On j Wednesday a change came bringing-a few hours of steady rainfall, and the last part of the week has been extremely cold with « re* turn of dense fogs. From our exchanges wc learn that at Dubbo the weather lias been varied, but heavy frosts prevailed. The country around is, according to the Dispatch, looking well. The feed is plentiful an(T green, and stock are in remarkably good con dition. Preparations arc being made for shearing, and in a few weeks tho music of the shears will bo heard, at many of the sheds. Station property is in good demand. Tho weather at Coonamble continues fine, herbage and grass are growing well. No fat stock moving, and our correspondent doesn't think there will be any for some months to c...

NARANDERA. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) [Newspaper Article] — Wagga Wagga Advertiser — 17 July 1875

' ' NARANDERA. (rilOM OUil OWN COBRESPONPENT.) — ' Some months ago I promised to send a. £o\v lintoTegardiug* our great city. Narandera, this; beautiful city, ig stili oti tlio same place, bub has changed. At last it seems to have gonoahead, andfoundthatitisdestiuedto form yet an important part in history. Our town ship has of late undergone a great chango in deed. A few of our enterprising residents have at last thought it time to improve their respective properties. Amongst them the most conspicuous are Messrs. Church and Co.'s new store and dwelling, both of which are really an ornamonfc to the town. : Mr. J. Stratfull's new public-house, when finished, will also bo a great addition to the place. For although we havo three pubs already, only two aro fit places for travellers to stay, and both of these are situated at the outskirts^ • of tho town, one leadiug to the Wagga Wa»ga road, and tho other to the Hay road. SYDNEY. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] [Newspaper Article] — Wagga Wagga Advertiser — 17 July 1875

SYDNEY. [moil OUR 0"\VN COItHESrONDEXT/] The parliamentary business transacted by both branches of the Legislature on the 7th inst., was not of a very startling or interest ing character so far as the general public are concerned, and therefore may be briefly summed up aa follows :—In the Legislative Council, the sitting as long as it lasted, was occupied in further considering the Laud Act in committee, and Clause 21 to 27 in clusive, were passed with sundry trifling amendments; when shortly afterwards at tention was called to the state of the House, with the usual result of no quorum being ob tainable. Nor can such a result be much wondered at after all, when one considers the dreary character of the business that this bill necessitates, and the ground that lias to be passed over so many times before any thing satisfactory can bo arrived at. The Assembly having reported the Stamp Duties Bill with amendments, then resolved itself into committee for tlio further consideration of the...

ALBURY. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT]. [Newspaper Article] — Wagga Wagga Advertiser — 17 July 1875

ALBURY.. . ... [from our own correspondent]. ..As ft matter of course the O'ConnclI Ccri . teuary has itB friends, admirers, and well* wishers in Albury, but I am not aware that there is any definite movement to mako a local celebration. Albury, like all other Australian towns, has a few who can spout a . fair share of such blarney as " Emerald Islo," "Erin-go-bragh," and such like, but when practical proof is demanded of patriot ism, naturally very little comes of the blatant jargon. As may be expected, a few ;' oftho upperten thousaud will go to the grand i display in Melbourne—fair weather after. | them. Of late no one can pretendjto civilisa* | tion, much less to high life, unless by visiting frequently . the "Athens of the southern | -hemisphere." Even the most trifling ailment! is now incurable unless one has recourse to the luxury of getting mcdicine from a Mel bourne doctor. Tho law is still going on. MELBOURNE. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) [Newspaper Article] — Wagga Wagga Advertiser — 17 July 1875

MELBOURNE. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) I daro say your readers are tired of the Education Act, but tho local importance o! the struggle—a knowledge of the fact that < ere long New South Wales -will have to discuss a similar question, and a hope that she will profit by our experience—must be my excuse for again referring to the matter. During the week a conference of lay and clerical Catholic representatives of the various parts of the colony has been held in Mel bourne, at which resolutions were passed that a petition, asking that provision be made for the education of Catholic children in accordance with the conscientious views of their parents, bo presented to Parliament. The conference plainly intimated its deter mination that, everything else failing, tho battle of education, should bo fought out on the hustings, and tho other side are taking the alarm. Now, the objection on which opponents of tho Act may put their chief trust is that of the expense of the present s...

THE . . Having to ndvitte the public, mny apeak/roe," i "MlI.TOK. SATURDAY^ JULY 17, 1875. As those who, either by force of cir cuinstanccB or, by the happy display of. sound common sense, are residents of this particular portion of New South Wales, are aware there has been for some years a good deal of bickering quietly going on as to whether the liivermo District, lying between the Murray and Murrum bidgee, belongs to the colony which holds it at the present moment, or to Victoria. As might bo expected, the former asserts that she has only that to which she is entitled, while the latter contends that the river, which it was intended should form the bound ary between the two colonies at the time when separation took place, was tho Murrumbidgec, and not the Murray. Whatever may be the merits of this question, we do not wish to discuss them, because we eonnot see that any good can arise therefrom. But we think it is only fair to place before the public such facts as show' beyond cont...

DEATH SMILES^. (Adelaide Obscwcr) The dingey left the cutter with three seatneu, but; when 6lie reached the whirlpool instautly disappeared. The only man who could not swim of tho three was cast up at my feet, and a glass of grog put him right. The othor two were carried out to sea and drowned. Early on the morrow T was on tlio beach, l'be tide was making angry signs of an approaching, gale, rolling before it the dead body of another of tho men. Tho remainiug sailor it cast ashore 'days after at Port Gawler a disfigured mass. Wo carried the sea's waif to tho hotel. A young midshipman from a large vessel ashore at Troubridge, a fragile youth, most likely one of Robinsou Crusoe's vic tims. When laid on the bed heap, peared only asleep ; one log was raised, but had stiffened, so we had to cut his sea-boot off.
