NEW RAILWAY BRAKE. [Newspaper Article] — Nambour Chronicle and North Coast Advertiser — 2 March 1923

NEW RAILWAY BRAKE. BRISBANE, Monday. — A device has j recently been perfected by an old resi dent of the Valley, Brisbane which, if possessed of half of the advantages claimed by the inventor, should go far towards minimising, if not entirely pre venting loss of human life caused by in efficient brakes on railways. Thp invpntnr (Mr \ WillinTrnsnn't regards the result of his labours as an improvement upen any existing railway brake. Its action Is entirely automatic and he claims that it will stop a train Instantly on any gradi ent . Should any part of a train be come detached owing to couplings breaking, which frequently has been the case, the effect of this new device is to immediately stop the portion or the tram that has com* asunder. Too ' frequently has this happened upon a steep gradient with disastrous re sults. The brake also acrrles a me chanical lever for shunting purposes. .Mr. Williamson has gone beyond the prime of life, and is an Invalid. Be fore settling' in Brisbane h...
