COUNTRY MINING AND GENERAL NEWS. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) March 18. [Newspaper Article] — North Australian — 28 March 1884

COUNTRY MINING AND GENERAL NEWS. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) ? March 1.8. I Lave nothing much of interest to .write yon this week. The continuous heavy rains are causing great depression in mining, and as. you may imagine when mining is dull everything else is proportionately so. Mr. "William Hay's party left here on the 14th inst, for his station, which he is now establishing in the Roper distinct. This will make the tenth cattle station within a. radios of three or four hundred miles bf Port Darwin. Miners are inquiring how it is that' the gold discovery bonus is not gazetted. It certainly is strange when the Sec. of the Progress Association -tells me that the Acting Government Resident in- formed him that it had been voted in November last. Mr. Devin, with Ids road repairing party, passed here yesterday, on the way to Southport, where, I understand, they have some work to do. I take this opportunity of thanking the Chief "Warden for his courtesy in supplying some information on...
