The enter tainment, organise! by Mrs I-I. .J,. Townson and Mr G. F. Hopkins, is said to be one of the best yet given here. Visitors were present from, all the surrounding "districts. Mr J. A. Mickle, president of the local com mittee fo-rmed to assist the -Y.M.C.A. effort, presided, and at the outset made a short speech about the aims and objects of the Y.M.C.A. Tooradin Chatter. (By J.D.S.) Tooradin presented a busy and ani mated scene last Sunday, on the oc casion of a visit by 30 members of the Indian Motor Club. They were entertained at dinner at the Toora din Hotel and subsequently to after (hoon tea. During the dinner, Mr> Ge>o, Broadbent (of roadmap fame), in a jolly speech and happy vein, pre sented a gald cigarette case, suit ably inscribed, to Mr Norcoot, hon. club secretary, on behalf of club members, while Mr. Harrison, editor of the "Motor Journal," spoke in support of the estimable qualities of the recipient, who suitably respond ed. The run from town occupied two hours, and was thoroughly enjoyed by the motorists. They propose an other excursion to Tooradin about January 24th to spend 'the week end. Cardinia. PRESENTATION TO MR ALJf\ PRIOR. (From, our Correspondent.) On Friday, November 29, a plea sant evening was spent at Mr Orr's residence, the occasion being a pre sentation to' Mr Alf. Prior, who had enlisted and was in camp when the armistice was signed. Mr W. Moxon occupied the chair, and n a few well-chosen remarks in troduced the guest of the evening as one o£ our boys who was anxious to do his bit. He then called on Mr M. Conroy, lion. sec. C.P.L.., to make the presentation. Mr Conroy said he was very sorry that he was put in for such a re sponsible position, as he was not capable of doing justice to a brave lad. He regretted very much that Mr Prior was unable to get leave to attend a social some three weeks ago, specially arranged to bid fare well to Pte W. jNIurphy and himself, when we had the president of the Cranbourne Shire Council (,Cr. District Schools' Excursion. The combined schools committee met at the Garfield school oil the 5th inst., when the following schools were represented :—Garfield, Bunyip, Iona, Longwarry, Modella, Tynong, and Garfield North. Mr Botterill was re-elected chair man for the ensuing twelve months, Messrs Waugh and Campbell joint secretaries. The balance-sheet of the last trip to Mordialloc showed a profit of £10 4s 3d, the receipts being :—Rebate'' from Railway Department, £12 lis Id, and expenses, £2 6s lOd. The total credit to the fund now in the bank is £49 4s 3d. It was decided to hold a. sale of gifts, after noon and evening, on Thursday, Jan uary 30, 1919, and Friday evening, January 31, an auction, a mugs' concert and a dance to follow. A good programme is promised, and a demonstration in spinning wool will be given on Thursday afternoon by Mrs Orgill. The yarn will be spun from undressed wool, straight from the fleece.
