Danger of Separator Slime Mr. G. S. Thompson writes : — All those working separators . must be careful that the ? slime taken from the inside of the' bowl is not, under any conditions, allowed to go into the skim milk, or ba mixed with food for pigs. Many forms of bacteria are always to bo found in separator slime, including in many cases the -germs of con sumption.! :I have seen the tubercle buccilli cultivated from eight out of ten samples of slime and inoculated milk fed to guinea pigs. In no instance did the guinea pigs survivo the disea'e Microscopic examination ' has shown that when milk taken from a tubercu losis udder is passed through a separa tor don ne cluinpB of the bacilli are deposited amongst the slime, and these breed in both the skim milk and cream. In Northern Germany, some years past, 1 tubercular disease wus very common amongst pigs where separator slime from t]te large oreamerias waa used in the feeding.
