BARNAWARTHA. [Newspaper Article] — The Border Morning Mail and Riverina Times — 16 November 1903

BARNAWARTHA. From Our Own Correspondent. Portion of Barnawartha is situarted in the Chiltern Shire and portion in the Yackandandah Shire. The coun- cillors of the latter shire, after mature consideration, came to the conclusion that the benighted inhabitants would be very much benefited by throwing     some light on their surroundings, so an order was given to our local car- penter to supply three lamp-posts and lamps. The order was executed in a most artistic style. Tneders have been called for to light the same, and there the matter ends. We are as   much in the dark as ever. No speci- facations are to be seen nearer than Yackandandah, a distance of 20 miles. This is a speciment of the injustice we have to submit to when tenders are called for little jobs in the neighbour- hood, as, if the job is only a small one, it will not pay to travel so far (40 miles there and back) to see the specifications; and, on day of open-   &amp...
