WAGGA WAGGA. [Newspaper Article] — The Tumut and Adelong Times — 1 May 1865

WAGGA WAGGA, (from our correspondent.) The Weather &c. — Since my last, there has been no change in the weather, and, to all ap pearances, no likelihood of any. The majority of our farmers here have abandoned the idea of ploughing this season — a very bad sign indeed. But they are only part of the sufferers ; the ' back-blockers ' are the worst off, for they are compelled to travel a great distance to water their sheep. I was credibly informed the other day, that odo of the settlers had lost no less a number than 700 sheep, from thirst, whilst making to the river ; and several other cases of the like nature have been reported. The Murrumbidgee is fordable, in a good many places, ancle deep ; it has not been so low for several years past. Horse-Stealing. — This nefarious practice is becoming very common in this district. On Sunday night (16th), two horses were stolen from Mr, Wallace's, Euronyhareenyha ; how ever, they returned home the other day, one with its tail docked sho...
