LOOK WHOSE HERE ! [Newspaper Article] — Player — 22 December 1911

LOOK WHOSE HERE ! MERRY CHRISTMAS HAPPY ffiW TEAR Many people in this country will be interested to know that Jules Tissot and his charming wife are still alive and playing in vaudeville houses . Many years ago they came to this country and introduced here the living marionettes and a cat duet . In the early eighties they opened at Atlantic City for one week and proved so popular that they remained at one house there for the whole summer . Although the place they worked was a German beer garden , fashionable people flocked there from all parts of the city . After remaining in this country for ten years they went on the other side of the seas and since that time have been playing in Europe . At last accounts they were playing in Birmingham , England , and they are still doing the same old specialty . They have had many imitators but nobody ever sang that cat duet just like the Tissot did .

Stanton , resident manager of the Castle Square theater , Lynn , Mass ., sets up a valid claim for the brass ring : A few years ago , he writes , 1 was the pioneer traveling manager through Maine . Once upon a time I played a town called Waterville to the magnificient sum of 55 cents with a piece called The Battle of Manila ; a company of eight people , one man ahead and myself . Prior to the opening of the doors that night , a lady made a slide for life by her teeth down 400 feet of rope with a roman candle in each hand . A band played The Washington Post March while 3 , 000 people looked on in bewilderment , expecting every moment to see her dashed to pieces on the rocks below . We opened the doors and took in the amount stated above . John F . Kane and Midie Donohue , now past presiden...
