Lathrop, who bad charge of tlio yellow fever hospitals at Giu-ymas and Hermosillo during last summer's epidemic, baa given bis opinions upon the subject to a reporter of the Lob Angeles Times. As his sugceations arc equally applicable to this city, they ure reproduced for the purpose of piviug the public all the information obtain able on a subject so nearly concerning them. Eleven years ago yesterday a scene ot retributive justice was enacted in Tuc son that struck terror to the hearts ot evil doors for a upico of time. On thnt day four men paid the penalty with their lives for the great crime of murder. The circumstances are matters of record, and the docket ot Judge Jleyer's court will furnish the framework of facts around which the following details of unwritten history were woven. There lived, up to the night of August Cth, 1S73, at the corner of Convent and Gushing streets, a pawnbroker and the keeper of a small store, named Hernan dez. He was a man highly respected by all his neighbors, and was considered well off in worldly goods, and without nn enemy in the city. lie was a mar ried man, but without children, and lived in the same building occupied by the store.
