The tall and winter season, wtien the oest of roads are needed, is approaching and unless, the roads are then in good condition, Austin is "destined to lose much that she would otherwise gain. Commerce and trade must have as few embargo3 as possible; and all will admit thure can be no greater embargo than oad roads. They tax patience and strength of men and beasts, wear them out, and are damaging a3 well to rolling stock. A bad road, leading to a good commercial center, presents no suffi cient inducement to haul marketable products over it, and the result is that inferior markets are chosen in preter ence to those which may be reached with great wear and tear to team' To receive fair pric6 for marketable stuffs is not an inducement, when to do so demands personal risks and great damage to property.
