•» pntfotH fost. TH URBDAY, FEBRUARY giT ma LOCAL INTELLIGENCE. The Ranker Clark. SJhe people of Norfolk have taken "it mildly" in the case of William M. Clark. He swindk d rio-tit and left; and in his window where irold, which ho borrowed for show, was exhibited to attract fools, banjos arc now displayed. He borrowed gold from a sailor, to help his "show," and sneaked off with it, hiiil all the diamonds and trust funds he could gobble. Mis friends assured the public that lie would come back; that he was only "insane," that be was a good fellow; but foolish about a woman; and yet he had wit enou'rli to cheat both the national banks. Hurrah for Clark! The Tribune says of another Clark: "What is wronsr with Washington? Has he gone out of favor? Is there anything iv his lineaments no longer attractive? Has his calm, placid, majestic face lost It* dignity? We ask these questions because wo find that the Treasury Department, in issuing five cent currency notes, has taken off Washington's...
