. While there is a quiet every- where else our sister state of Mississippi is in the throes of an election on which much de- pends. Prfls have been opened in Jackson to determine who is "the most beautiful young lady in Mississippi" and all have been invited to participate therein after paying a small poll tax to the Presbyterian Aid Society of that city. The ballot-boxes will be opened April 20th and the vote fairly counted and May 4th the successful candidate will be crowned queen of May with all the regal hon- ors .at West Point. She will have lour maids of honor se- lected from the four young la- dies whose votes are next high- est to hers. N. O. Democrat.
