i'hf Daily flcms. DENISON. THURSDAY JUNK 27 1S7S Since the first of September hist, the United States lias exported 59,- ooo^ooq bushels of wheat, 60,000,- 000 bushels of corn, 3,300,000 bush- els of rye, '250,000 barrels of meal, and 3,400,000 barrels of flour, equal in all to 130,000,000 bushels of grain. These large exports have hardly been missed, and we have now a large sorplus left, and the prospect of the largest crop evei grown. The plank in the platform of the Democratic State Convention of In- diana in favor of making greenbacks a full legal tender in payment of all debts, public and private, cxcept such obligations as, by contract, are made payable in coin, the retirement of all national bank notes and the substitution of treasury notes instead, would be a good plank to engraft int...

$hc Daily Bcius, DENISONt SATURDAY JUNE 29, 1tyS. It is now believed in well informed political circles, that Throckmorton will receive the nomination at Auf. tin, "vhethei the two-thirds rule is abolished or not by the State con- vention. The St. Louis Times says the Democratic party of Missouri is a greenback party and no other green- back party is needed to put in force a greenback policy, so far as this can be done by State action. What is true of the policy of the party in Missouri is equally true in Texas. The greenback men can accomplish nothing outside of the Democratic party. We see that our friend, the lion. Martin L. Clardy, of Farmington, Mo., is making a lively race for the nomination in the first congres- sional district of Missouri. Mr. Clardy is ope of the most promising young lawyers in Missouri, is thor- oughly read upon all the living is- sues now before the people of the conntry, is a Democrat of the sti ict constructionist school, and should he be elected, would...

[From tlie Now York TImos.l An incident, quite peculiar of its kind, but essentially Russian in character, has just come to light, which has become the leading gossip in Philadelphia. Some fifteen months ago, a workman, speak- ing English fluently, with but a slight foreign accent, appliod for a position as a machinist in one of the largest shops in Wilmington, Del., where marine en- gines and iron hulls are built. There being a stress of work just at the time, the intelligent appearance of the me- chanic secured him a position in the shop. Every day the new employee was to be seen at the work-bench prosecuting his labors. A planing-machine was placed soon under his charge, and he displayed so much skill and judgment in the tasks allotted to him that work requiring the greatest exactness was soon confided to the foreigner's ca...

It will be well for that portion of the public who are interested in the patriotism and public spirit of John Sherman to mark the intricacies of his recent circular, in which he offers the four per cent, bonds for sale in amounts of $50, $100, $500 and $1,000. The offer will bear accurate scanning. It will be observed that the circular follows hard upon the adjournment of congress. The watch dogs are out ot the way. The secretary of the treasury sees the necessity of hurrying things immedi- ately 011 the opening of his opportu- nity. lie offers one-fourth of one per cer^t. commission on the amounts named, but the commission will be paid by check only, and cannot be deducted from the amount of the subscriptions. This is something new in the way of discounts. A man must pay the full amount of his bonds, but he will loose the sum of a bill of exchange to collect his com- mission. Al...

®hf §attg |lcws. DKNIBON. SUNDAY MORNING. How They Muuage Strikes in France. In these days of eager competition it is absurd to suppose tnat labor will not always fetch what it is worth; but nothing is gained by temporarily forc- ing it above its value. Such inflation of wages naturally tends to falls, which to the workmen may be ruinous. It is to be hoped that this truth will commend itself to tho French working-classes be- fore they are put in possession of the liberties for combining and striking which Englishmen enjoy.
