Tho Government have boen defeated in tho Assembly again, on a motion of Mr. Hart's, refusing to go on with the estimates until a Special Supply Bill is brought in to pay the salaries duo in the Civil Service. Tho imports for tho past quarter amountod tb £791,000, and tho exports to £938,000. Tho total reduction in tho estimates mado by the Assembly amount to over £40,000. BRISBANE. Saturday. The Government have sold the dredge Fitzroy to the New South Wales Government for the sum of 11,000. The Government have also given an ordor to Messrs. Mort and Co. for a good seagoing steamer for the mail sorvica. Tho barque Alfred Hawley has sailed for London. ¡§?¡Mr. Fraser, tho boatswain of the Balclutha, steamer, fell overboard on Wednesday, and was drowned. Tho floods are very destructive. 280 yards of Wiseman's Bridge have been destroyed. lb is re ported that five miles of the railway embankment above Stanwell have been carried away. The Fitzroy is still rising. Prendergast and his wife were again brought up for the Hartnell murder, and remanded for one week. Mr. F. A. Forbes and Mr. John Deucher have been declared insolvent. The seat for West Moreton becomes vacant, but Forbes seeks re-election.
