ECHUCA, SATURDAY, APRIL 24, 18G9. As nearly, every one anticipated, Mr- C.E. .Jones has been found guilty of having re ceived several simVs 'of money- for- and in respect of bis services and action in' the Legislative Assembly 5 and he has been ex pelled from that Hpuse.wbicli, inta variety of mopo. Iio.moo tr> flfWo. From the condition of a hopelessly insolvent tailor he—solely by bis remarkableability'and his indomitable pluck—raised himself to the proud position of Commissioner of "Railways —a position which vested in bim. the handling of about half a million sterling, entitled-him to a seat in the Cabinet, and gave him a right to advise Her Majesty's representative in Victoria.; With no bitterness do we thus revert to the humble circumstances in which Mr Jones was formerly placed, for, antagon istic as we have been to his policy; we hope we have, ever done justice to the talent which he possessed in so unusual a degree; and we only regretted that itjwas not more frequently ex...
