THE DIP STICK [Newspaper Article] — Goulburn Evening Post — 15 May 1940

THE DIP .STICK 'In all the signs of peril and grave crisis there are one or two things that help to keep up the spirit. That message, for in stance, which came out of Hol land-in the days of despair: "We will fight on; we have something Worth fighting for," is one of the cheering touches in a war that is terrible, a war in which the enemy is exploiting to the, utter most depths all the vileness of man when he is vile. And the situation is grave. We heard one cc;mmentator pointing out that Germany had brought another .a;?iy of a million men against her by invading both Holland and Belgium, but already Holland afid Belgium are divided, and to the amateur strategist it looks as if' Holland is almost out of the fight. The Moerdijk bridge cap tured by the Germans is practic ally on the sea, being at the head of one of the big estuaries, and only about ten miles from Rotter dam, while in the same breath we are told that the south of Rotter dam is in German hands. This rii'eans that the Ge...
