GENERAL NEWS.', The I'nteicolnial Exhibition ..as fbrmally opened, on We.lnesday last, by his Excellenc, th3 Governor. The arrongements were so perfect tlhat buit little inconvenience was.ex perienced firom tile pressure of the crot'd which thronged the builieg. IIis Excellency was received by the comlmissioners at the en trence to the Public Library, and escorted to the dais erected at the eastern side of the grand hall, which was railed off in order to provide accommodation for members of the Government and Legislature, ministers of religious denomnin:,ticns, cnsuls, and nladies. MEMORANDA, We perceive that a meeting of tihe committee for the establishmont of a nonew post-office, savings bank, and telegraph office in Prh-an will he held at the Post Offogs Hotel, on Monlay evenng. I Miss Aikens, assisted by Signor Cutolo, will give ao entertainment at the Prahran Town Hall on Monday evening. On Tuesday evening next several flritelass re. citers, readers, &e., are expected to ma'ke their first bow to a Prahran audience at the penny readings, held in connexion with the HMechanics' Institution.
