DANCE At Gerringong The Ladies Auxiliary of the .Ger ringong Sub-branch of the R.S.L. held a euchre party and dance in the School of Arts on Wednesday night last when there was a fair attendance. Nickel's Orchestra provided the imusic for the dancing whilst Mr. N. Sharpe was the capable M.C., A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr. G. O'Sullivan and Miss B. Walker. The euchre tournament was won by Messrs. A. Price and A. Stebbing and Mesdames D. G. Campbell and R. Buchanan. The ladies provided an excellent supper.

Ex-servicemen' and women are re minded that the closing date for ap plying for training benefits under the Commonwealth Reconstruction Training Scheme is 30th June, 1947, or. 12 months after the date of dis charge, whichever is the later. The Minister for Post War Recon struction (Mr. Dedman) annbunced recently that there will be: no exten sioin of this date. UNLICENSED FIREARMS In inviting attention recently to the substantially increased Penalties now provided under the law for possessing or carrying unlicensed pistols, the Premier, Mr. McGirr, stated that he had been. advised by the Police Authorities -that they have reason to believe there are still a number, of citizens . in possession of unlicensed pitols, who' may not be aware of the seriousness of such possession. Mr. McGirr emphasised that it is essential to ensure that- unlicensed Distols do not fall into the hands of criminals. Accordingly he invited reputable citizens to surrender un licensed pistols without delay to Police Stations.
