Emu Bay Railway.— Mr James Stirling, the engineer in charge, and Mr Asketell, the chief surveyor of the Emu Bay Railway,     arrived at Zeehan, overland, on Monday. They are walking through to Mount Lyell. On their return they intend putting on some survey parties to work on the Zeehan and Rosebery ends of the line. Seven men intending to work on the railway have had a very unpleasant cxperience of the fact that ' Hobart is not Tasmania." They arrived at the capital by tho s.s.Tambo from Sydney under the impression that the Waratuh- Zeehan railway works were not far off. Finding such not to be the case, and having no spare cash, they were stranded. The Chief Secretary was communicated with for assistance, who wired to the resident secretary at Burnie on the subject, with the result that the men were sent on by Monday night's train from Hobart on their way to Ulverstone and Burnie, the train fare to be collected from them when the money was earned. Onr.vtstoK, Moudiw. when Arthur Greeves expired during the snowstorm on Hartz Mountain his father covered him with his rug and made his way to the hut, and there found his son Osborne crawlling on his hands and knees, frothing at the mouth, and acting like a madman. A   fire was quickly made, and he, being place.! before it, fell Into a sound sleep, thus saving his life. Mr Geeves and his son Richard because like drunken men their legs refused       to support them, and they could hardly speak. to give an Idea of their condition, they had dropped the provision knapsack just 15yds From their hut, but were pwerless to go that short distance to recover it. A rest during the night revived them, and they were able at daybreak to go and carry the body of Arthur Into the hut.
