This was an action for trespass, In which Andrew M'Dougall was plaintifT, and John Christian and Henry Humphroy wero defendants. The declaration suited that the defoddants'had at va rious'timcs, from the year 1652'tothe commencement of tbe present action, broken into certain lands belonging, to tno.pl -intifi and known as the Piallaway -cattle sta tion, and that they had kept possession of tne-said lands, ' and depastured their i-'hecp thereon, had -driven away tho plaintiff's sheep, confining a quantity of plain tiff's eneep within a -email apace, and depriving the plaintiff of the incrcaeo of his cattle and sheop. We arc indebted to our Melbourne contemporaries for the following : — Wo learn from Calcutta that tho elcctric telegraph is nearly complete acrots the Egyptian desert to Suez, and that the railway has advanced to the centre station, and was to bo available for passengers so far by the end of February. Tho whole line is to be completed in June, when the pass igc from Alexandria to Suez will be ac complished iu nine hours. This will shorten the time occupied in the transit of tho mails between England and tho East by two days, and this saving of time will also be cflected in tbe transmission of the mails to and from Australia. Another day will soon bo saved by tho completion of some new lines of railway, and the im proved speed in the existing ones between Calais and Marseilles.
