THE MEAT SUPPLY QUESTION. [Newspaper Article] — Wagga Wagga Express — 26 February 1879

THE MEAT SUPPLY QUESTION. A meeting of stockowners and others interested iii tlie sale of stock was held at Fullfovd's Hotel, West Mnitlaud, 011 Wednesday last, to consider the best means of subsidising the Shamrock Hill Meat Company. Mr. A. A. Dangar occupied the chair. He and also Mr. J. N. Brunker and Mr. E. Sparke ex plained how, in prospect of a large surplus of stock, it had become advisable j to aid the company. Mr. Theophilus I Cooper, according to the report in the Mercury, said he had been connected with the Shamrock Hill Meat Company, as one of the trustees, during the last three yeans, and had made a few visits to it. Tiie bushranger scare is now fortunately con fined to the original quartette of scouudrels, as their imitators have come to very rapid grief. The four men who stuck up Hatfield were rendered ail account of by the police after being only two Jays at large, and the Dubbo marauders were almost simultaneously captured. This prompt action upon tlie part i --t tlie police is sotisiaetory to tnepunuc, and will doubtless prove very disconcerting to the Kklly.s, who, it is to be hoped, will speedily follow their rascally confreres within the lock-up doors. Every day that the Kelt/vs remain .at large casts a serious re flection upon the police force, besides increas ing the demoralising effect of a bad example upon tbe rising generation, who, apparently, are only too eager to believe tliat lawless blood thirstiness is heroism. The rapid pursuit and capture of the two gangs above referred to will, however, prove that there is not only promptitude but pluck in the police | force. An equally pro...
