DISTRICT NEWS. From our Exchanges. QERRICAN. Master Hugh Jcrtnyii, son of Mr. W. Jcrmyn, of Berrigan, has been successful in passing, the Public Service Examination. There were 237 candidates for 84 appointments, and Hugh was placed lifty-fourth 011 the list, 011 'which lie is to be congratulated. On Wednesday morning last Mr. Jersey Simpson, son of Senior-Sergeant Simpson, was motored to Deniliqtiin, where lie is to enter the hospital to be treated for appendicitis. We trust that ere long Jersey will have regained his usual vigor. The annual ball under the auspices of the local Coursing ('lull was successfully held 011 Wednesday evening last. About thirty couples were in attend ance, and some very pretty cos tumes were in evidence. Under the able conductorship of Mr. Harry Baxter, everything result ed most cnjoyably.
