,-mu»»»-~-j.«...,.. _- .ft ,-u'.J*- . r- - JUDGING HORSES 37 APPEA2AHC23. I offer the following suggestions, the result of my close observation and long experience: If the color be light, sorrel or chestnut, his feet, legs and face white—these are marks of kindness. If he is broad and' 'full between the eyes he may be depended on as a horse for being trained to anything; as respects such horses, the more kindly you treat them the better you will be treated in return. Nor will a horse of this description stand a whip if well_ fed. If you want a safe horse, avoid one that is dish faced. He may be so far gentle as not to scare, but he will have too much go-ahead in him to. be safe witb everybody. If you want a fool, but a horse of great bottom, get a deep.bay with hot a white hair about htm. If his face is a little dished, so. much the worse. Let no mail ride such a horse that is not au expert rider; they are always tricky and unsafe. If you want one. that will-never give out, ne...

Handling ok Sheer.—Daily do we see sheep' grabbed by the wool and hauled about. Will people never learn better ? Let some one take them by the hair, and they. would probably learn a lesson. Could they look under the skin they would be surprised how much suffering:they had inflicted—for the sheep is ~ dumb and does not tell its.pain.' Take by the neck—or any other place, rather than the wcJol—any place but the wool. So it is where the sheep are hooked or thumped about. They are tender, it must be remembered—more so than any stock on the farm.
