Beatnik Blast Date To Depend Upon Last Night s Vote Pending the decision of last night s Student Council meeting , the Beatnik Ball scheduled by the junior class for tomorrow at 8 : 00 p . m . in Copley Basement will be held . Philodemic Sends Forces To Three Debate Tourneys The weekend of February 4 through 6 marked a period of intense activity for the Philodemic Debating Society of the College . Three teams were sent to separate tournaments at Johns Hopkins , William and Mary , and Harvard . A total of over a hundred teams were involved in the three tournaments . Bennett-Nichols Split The Johns Hopkins tournament required the two Georgetown debaters to alternate sides , from affirmative to negative , as they proceeded in their round by round analysis of the national debate topic : RESOLVED : that Congress should be given the power to reverse decisions of the Supreme Court . The Food Situation The new regulations in the dining hall have had the immediate effect of antagonizing the resident students , who must pay for both room and board by the semester unless they have a doctor s excuse from eating on campus . The institution of the new food service control system , the strict limitation on the quantity of individual items , and especially the regulation that only one glass of milk may be carried away from the serving line have all contributed their share to student discontent , though we believe their shares to be comparatively minor .
