The plows cut the soil much quicker and deeper, and laying aside the cost of the machinery, at a much less cost than the horse plow. They plow ou an aver age about eighty-five acres per day. Aft;r three days march, however, from their camp, in the interior of Algeria, they suddenly saw the hi rd alight on the knapsack of the tru Hipster. It was then re solved to bring it with them ior the Prussian campaign. The knowledge of the French districts shown by the staff of the German army is considered wonderful. In the way of war news we have information that in a sharp engagement at Chateau Thierry, on Sunday, the 1 1th, the Prussians were repulsed with considerable loss; that the people of Soissons Approve of' the determination of the com mander not to surrender, not withstanding the demands of the Prussians; and that the Uhlans have been destroying railways and telegraphs eight miles from Paris, making their appearance at .Melun and other points.
