Washington.-The house commit mittee on war claims, of' which Rep resentative Sims of Tennessee, is the ranking Democratic member, has com pleted the report on the bill to give the court of claims jurisdiction of claims for captured and abandoned property, which was sold and the pro ceeds thereof placed in the treasury of the United States. It is shown by the facts gathered by the committee that at the time the property was seized nine districts were established and an agent ap pointed for each. A large amount of property in the states that had se ceded from the union was seized, and the proceeds, amounting to over $30, 000,000, reported to the secretary of the treasury.
