The Kennewick Courier VOU v. NO. 39 Cross Columbia River On Ice. Eight Men Make Hazardous Trip at The Dalles. The of north bank residents attempting to c the Columbia on the ice furirshed an interesting spectacle for Dalles people Satur day. The trip over the ice is a hazard ous one attended by no small dan ger. The men that made the trip went mostly on all fours, pushing long planks before them. Eight nieu made the trip .successfully. One man fell thru the ice but pulled liimstlf out without injury. Two inches ot snow fell at The J)alles Saturday. The Columbia is blocked with ice from Crates Point along the city front to the slougbs above. In the Big Eddy above The Dalles there is an ice jam a mile long and between 20 and 30 feet deep.
