EASTERTIDE CHURCH SERVICES Last Sunday evening, April 12, the Seventh-day Adventists of Warburton conducted a meeting in the Warburton Mechanics' In stitute. There was a large atten dance of the public, there being probably some 350 people present. On the platform was seated a fairly large mixed choir, and also the local S.D.A. orchestra, both of which helped materially in leading the singing, while the or chestra also rendered one or two selections. The speaker for the evening was Pastor A. W. Anderson, edi tor of the "Signs of the Times," Warburton, who took as his sub ject, "'The story that revolution ised the world." At the outset of his reniarks, in dealing with the story of the re surrection and its truthfulness, the speaker stated that the conditions prevailing in the world at the time of the death of Christ were very different from those to-day. Everywhere cruelty, darkness, superstition, fea,',, -and injustice reigned; but christianity had, however, changed these condi tion...

HELP YOUR NEWSPAPER. [Newspaper Article] — Lilydale Express and Yarra Glen, Wandin Yallock, Upper Yarra, Healesville and Ringwood Chronicle — 17 April 1914

11ELP YOUR NEWSPAPER. The grcatest aid you can give your newspapor is your JOB PRINT INCK. If you. do not feel able to run advert~isements, you can give the newspaper your cards, dodgers, billh'eads, envelopes, and all busi ness printing to execute. The news paper man wants it, and it helps him to pay his printers for setting up the thousand and one FREE NOTICES he gives your town; but don't give it to the printer, or job printing office that .c~n give you no such return, and is spending nei ther time, money, nor brains in helping you, to build up your :dis tiict. The time may come when a newspaper can live simply on the revenue derived from advertising and subscriptions, but no ordinary newspaper in an ordinary town can exist without the auxiliary support of its jobbing department,

ENGINJE POWJER ON THE FARM. WBICH. IS THE BE'II'ER. SYSTE.II --OIL OR PETR.OL. At a recent meeting of the Coorabie branch of the Soutli Australian Agri cultiril :Bureau;. an interesting pape' on- "Eugine 1 powdri on the farm" was rend by Mr. C. IIhs. In the -ophiion of MIr. Iles, thi small farm engine is *without doubt onp of tlhe niost useful -tiaohines in which a farmer can invest; -and he states. that in South Australia it has quite replaced the old-fashioned system of horse works and hand ma chinery. Mr. Iles enumerated a few o' its many spheres of usefulness :--It can be taken into the paddocks and will drive the winnower; used with the circular saw it will out up the fire wood; it will drive the clhaffeatter, corn-mill, and, in fact, any maohinery on th - farm, and that much quicker ,nd with less labor than by other me thods. Of all the linds of engine power, Mr. Iles favors that driven by oil and petrol. There are two types of both these engines-portable and stationary; and h...
