A numerous and representative de putation waited to-day upon Mr Kld ston and Mr Hawthorne and placed be fore them a lengthy list of recommen dations dealing with the liquor laws. Mr D. Bowman, M.L.A., who intro duced the deputation, said they had come to make suggestions regarding a Liquor Reform Bill. They admired the Government administration of the pre sent law, but thought a new Bill of a more complete character should be in troduced next session. A COWARDLY MURDER. OLD WOMAN THE VICTIM. [By Telegraph.) SYDNEY, July 8. Great excitement prevailed at New town this afternoon when the news was circulated that an inoffensive oil woman had been done to death in a fiendish manner and that the murderer had escaped. The woman murdered Is Mary Macnamara, widow of Senior Sergeant Macnamara, of Newtown, who died a short time ago. Mrs Mac namara lived by herself next door to Hardman's biscuit factory, In Sarah street. The house Is a two-storied double-fronted one, and was at one lime the family residence of the Hard man family, to whom she is related. It has a small balcony at the back and upon this balcony the murdered wo man's bedroom opened by means of a French window. There was also an other door in the bedroom which opened into the main hall.
