The plaintiff was Mr Toomey, cigarette importer, of Basinghall street. The 100,000 cigarettes remained in the warehouse for more than twelve months. WHEN LITERATURE FAILS [Newspaper Article] — Talbot Leader — 7 March 1914

WHEN LITERATURE FALLS "Literature is a failure if it does not bring us a nobler sense of life, a zest for the commonwealth mind, a spirit of fraternity towarls the race as a whole," says 'The Daily Herald.' It is not a thing to keep us proud and apart, to bear us away from our neighbors and their ordeals, but to inspire us with a finer faith in them and in the general destiny."

REASONS FOR ADVERTIS ING. Many business men advertise only a certain seasons of the year, many pre ferring the fall of early spring. But the experience of advertisers who have made he subject a study is that persistent ad vertising is the best and returns more .profit considering the outlay than adver tising by fits and starts. It keeps one al ways • before the public in a sense, and the prayer of the daily or weekly repeti tion of an advertisement is inestimable A French writer says that the first time a person sees an advertisement he hardly notices it; the second time, he remembers he has seen it before; the third time, he reads it; the fourth time, he-wonders if - it meets his wants; and the fifth time, he buys the article. This, at least, ia human nature. A single insertion of an adv^r ; tisement seldom produces much impres sion, but let that advertisement be re peated for a month or six months, and satisfactory results generally will follow People remember that they have seen ...
