Death of f _/ laumee _R . _Zullingef , ex- 98 . The first death in the Class of 98 is that of Maurice R . Zullinger who breathed his last at his home in Waynesboro on last Monday evening at seven o clock . Maurice was a member of 98 in the freshman and Sophomore years , being compelled during the latter year to leave college on account of rapidly failing health . Since that time he has suffered greatly , being afflicted with a complication of diseases . Such was the nature of his sickness that repeated operations by the best medical skill proved of no avail , merely delaying the end . It was with great sorrow that the members of his class learned of his death . While at school his cordiality and studious habits made him equally popular with student and professor . Maurice was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and his is the first death in their Chapter at this institution . The funeral , which is private , will be held on Thursday . At the University of California the elect...

T N a recent issue we had occasion to criticise the special meeting 1 feature of the Literary Societies . The _criticism has generally been conceded to be correct and timely , except in several cases , when it was wrongly interpreted . It was never intended that the criticism should apply to those who performed on these special programs and who in some instances deseive considerable ciedit for doing additional work for the welfare of the Society , as they believed it to be , but it was intended to criticise a mistaken idea , a fallacious principle and to ask for a reform that would restore the Society to its normal condition and to prevent a continued abuse of the foundation principle of the Society . We wish to reaffirm that we believe that the success of the Societies and their existence as such demands a discontinuance of all special program features . The recent successful theatrical of Philo demands attention , for it shows that we have dramatic talent among our students that d...

V . _JH . C . R . At a meeting of the World s Christian Student Federation , at Williamstown , Mass ., last summer it was decided to set apart February 13 th , as a Day of Prayer for students . In accordance with this decision we observed the day . Mr . McCauley , of the Seminary addressed the meeting . He spoke very earnestly in behalf of this world-wide movement and piesented quite a number of special reasons why a day of prayer should be observed for students . An effort was made by Pres . Woods to get Rev . F . B . Meyer , of England , to come to Gettysburg and address the students , but owing to Mr . Meyers short stay in America lie could not be secured . At a recent business meeting twenty men were elected as delegates to the State Convention to be held at York , Feb . 17-20 . Two other men were elected as delegates to represent our college at the Student Volunteer Convention to be held at Cleveland , Ohio , Feb . 23-27 . These gatherings deserve our earnest prayers .
