Powell only lacked 80,276 of a majori ty of all the votes cast at the late elect ion. Prohibition was defeated at Altanta, Ga., last Saturday by a majority of about 1,100. Cincinnati is working for the Republi can and Democratic National Conven tions of next year. We hope she may succeed. Virginia will send seven Republicans and threo Democrats as Representatives to the next Congress. That State is slowly but surely wheeling around into the Republican ranks. For the year just closed the net reve nue from the Penitentiary was $3,084.07. Although this is not very big, still it is better than the $100,000 loss per year under the Hoadly regime.
